Android Phones, Tablets Slated to Get 'Ice Cream Sandwich' Upgrade

Google and Samsung sent the Android-loving world into a tizzy Oct. 18 with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. But it wasn't the phone that excited users so much, but the software. The Galaxy Nexus is powered by Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich," or ICS for short. With the Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" looking long in the tooth as the Android build installed most smartphones worldwide, ICS is beginning to look like a welcome guest. And why not? It borrows the nifty holographic UI scheme from "Honeycomb" tablets and adds near field communications (NFC), facial recognition and other cool tools. Check out what phones are likely to receive ICS when it's available.
